Moving Along

You’ll need to see your advisor at least once a semester as you plan for the next semester. You’ll complete course registration yourself online via the WISER system.

Important: If you’re an undeclared major, you must see your advisor in the University Advising Center first in order to remove your “advising hold” so you can register on the WISER system. Once you declare your major, you may also have a departmental advising hold. That needs to be removed by your department.

A typical advising session is scheduled by appointment and lasts about 30 minutes. Advance preparation is very important to make sure your session is as productive as possible. At other times, when you have a quick question or urgent need, feel free to drop in; we offer frequent walk–in advising. You can also call your advisor, or send e–mail.

Once you declare your major, you’ll work with a faculty advisor from your department, who can guide you through your major course requirements and help you explore graduate school options. But we invite you to keep returning to the University Advising Center for questions about general education and overall degree requirements.
