Health and Health Insurance

Before leaving, find out if your health care insurance covers you while traveling abroad. If not, then an International Student ID Card (highly recommended for all study abroad students) will provide basic accident and medical insurance.

Carry with you an ID card that lists any medical conditions you have, prescription medicines you take, eyeglass or contact lens prescription, and allergies.

If you take prescription medicine, make sure you bring with you as much as you will need for the time that you will be away. Carry it with you in the original labeled container.

If you wear eyeglasses or contact lenses, bring spares with you and pack them in different bags. No matter which of these you wear, bring a spare pair of eyeglasses and keep them in your carry-on bag.
