Eligibility requirements vary from program to program. As you explore programs, look closely at their requirements with respect to:
Age/College LevelMost study-abroad programs require applicants to be at least a sophomore and at least 18 years old. A few allow freshman applicants.
GPA The minimum GPA usually ranges from 2.5 to 3.0; a few programs have more stringent requirements.
LanguageApplicants must have a strong command of the language they plan to take university-level courses in. Most programs require at least two academic semesters of the language spoken in the host country or region. Language-learning programs accept students at all levels, however. There are also many opportunities to study in countries where the native language is English, or the program is in English.
University Some college- and university-sponsored study-abroad programs are open only to students from that institution.
